The Znannya Society Ukraine is the biggest public scientific educational organization of Ukraine. Its name means Knowledge in Ukrainian. It was founded on the 16th of January 1948. Olexandr Palladin, President of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, was the first head of the Znannya Society.

       Having more than half a century experience, the Society is the original informal institution, which serves nation intellectual potential. And it is aimed at satisfying informational educational needs of Ukrainian citizens. The Society is engaged in development and introduction of new informational educational technologies. It also works on the creation of the powerful database of knowledge. The creation of the corporate computation system in the territory of Ukraine, which will provide the integration of the intellectual potential of Society members with national and worldwide informational resources, demands immediate action.

       Since 1999 the Znannya Society is headed by President Vasyl Kremen, Full Member of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. The executive power of the Society is the government personnel headed by the Head of the government Vasyl Kusherets, Ph. D. The Society unites ten thousands of scientists and cultural workers, workers in the fields of education, medicine and production on voluntary basis. Hundreds of permanent employees also provide for its activity.

1. Socio-political, in particular:
- informational propagandistic providing for the course of economical reforms and political reorganizations
- propaganda of state ideology and searching for ways of national consolidation of Ukrainian society
- explanation of the state regional policy and development of local government
- instilling of national and ethnic tolerance as well as principles of mutual social understanding

2. Institutional, in particular:
- legal education and providing for law services for Ukrainian citizens
- propagation of economic knowledge

3. Scientific and educational, in particular:
- propagation of fundamental scientific knowledge about nature
- education of ecological culture of the nation
- informatization of the society, propagation of computer literacy
- organization of the additional non-stop education for adults

4. International activity, in particular:
- tourism, including educational one
- partnership relations
